Decorative Painting: Is an art form and a craft. It is the umbrella definition, for faux painting, stoke work motifs, stenciling, glazing and plastering for textural effects, gilding, Trompe l’Oeil, and murals

Faux Painting: Is an art form utilizing a variety of tools and mediums that include, but are not limited to, paints, colorants, glazes, plasters, waxes, and varnishes to create real looking surfaces.

Stroke work motifs: Ornamental designs applied to a surface. Examples would be a floral garland motif painted around a window to enhance or decorate it.

Stencils: Cut out designs used to repeat patterns on a surface. The images can create a repeat pattern, be random, flat, or elevated.

Elegant Glazes:a glazing medium mixed with a colorant; applied either in a negative or a positive technique to a surface and manipulated to create a layered dimensional result.

Designer Plasters: High end finishes created with a variety of plasters to enhance the tactile and visual appearance of a space or an object.

Gilding: The use of composition leaf, (also known as metal leaf) or genuine leaf, to create the appearance of a solid metal, or as under painting to add shimmer to a surface.

Trompe L’Oeil: Or "To fool the eye". Creating a realistic painting utilizing the knowledge of color values and perspective drawing.

Murals: To create painted scenes on walls or objects.
